Simply put the HerbsNOW Carbon Filter Tray at the top of your plant-filled trays and put the lid on. Activated carbon starts working at once to reduce odors released during the plant drying cycle. The air flowing around your delicate herbs and flowers will be pushed through the top of the dryer, going through your Carbon Filter Tray. Resulting in noticeably cleaner air with little to no odor released.

Made specifically for use with the HerbsNOW Dryer, the Carbon Filter Tray fits perfectly with your current HerbsNOW trays. Use it when you’re drying either a little, or a lot, of plant material. The HerbsNOW carbon filter tray does not need to be plugged in, or have an additional dedicated space for it to operate, unlike other air filters. This means you don’t need to worry about adjusting fan speeds, cleaning out filters, or any of the other upkeep needed for an additional air filter.

How Carbon Removes Odor

This tray uses activated carbon, which is the go-to material for people looking to significantly reduce odors in their home. Carbon uses a process called adsorption that causes gas molecules to attach to the carbon. Once attached, the gas molecules remain trapped in the filter and can’t circulate back into the air. The most common uses for a carbon air filter are to remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs), odors, and/or smoke from the air.

Lifespan of Carbon Filter

The lifespan of the carbon filter tray will vary based on use. Multiple factors including odor, smoke, and VOCs in the environment determine the longevity of the carbon. An easy way to figure out if your carbon filter tray needs replacing is to conduct a “smell test”. Hold the tray close to your nose and smell the filter. A sour, acidic or chemical smell means your carbon filter is saturated. Replace filters that do not pass the “smell test”.
